Ruby Leigh’s Stellar Performance on The Voice’s Knockout Rounds
Have you been keeping up with The Voice this season? If not, you’ve been missing out on some serious talent, especially from a young country singer who’s been turning heads since her Blind Audition. Yes, I’m talking about the one and only Ruby Leigh, who, at just 16, is already making waves with her incredible voice and charming stage presence.
Ruby Leigh: The Voice’s Country Prodigy
During Monday’s Knockout Rounds, Ruby Leigh didn’t just perform; she owned the stage. Competing against her Team Reba mates, Ms. Monet and Rachele Nguyen, Ruby had the audience and the coaches captivated. But let’s rewind a bit, shall we? Even before her performance, during rehearsals, Ruby had coaches Reba McEntire and season 24 Mega Mentor Wynonna Judd absolutely geeking out over her talent.
“Ruby is 16 – oh my gosh!” exclaimed Wynonna. “Something there is very spectacular, and I think she’s got such a future. She’s unique in a way that country music needs.” And let’s be honest, when Wynonna Judd says you’ve got something special, you better believe it!
Knockout Performances That Wowed the Coaches
Ms. Monet brought her A-game with a soulful rendition of The Emotions’ “Best of My Love,” while Rachele Nguyen, only a year older than Ruby, also earned high praise for her cover of Maddie & Tae’s “Die From a Broken Heart.” However, it was Ruby’s undeniable talent that shone the brightest, winning over all the coaches from the get-go.
“Ruby, you’re on a different planet,” said coach Niall Horan, clearly impressed by her vocal prowess. “It’s amazing what you do with your voice and the power that comes out of it.”
Gwen Stefani chimed in, “Everything about you is original, yet you just remind us of something so classic,” while John Legend described Ruby and Reba as “a match made in heaven.”
Gwen Stefani Reflects on The Voice Without Blake Shelton
Speaking of coaches, let’s talk about Gwen Stefani for a second. ET caught up with her ahead of this season’s Battles, and she opened up about how it feels to be back on The Voice sans her hubby, Blake Shelton. The Cowboy tipped his hat and rode off into the sunset earlier this year, after a whopping 23 seasons.
“It feels kind of like [my] first season, before I knew he existed,” Gwen shared, adding a touch of humor to her nostalgia. “It’s kind of weird, but it’s also like, I’m having so much fun.”
And fun is the name of the game for Gwen. “Like, I’m only here because it’s fun,” she continued. “The coaching and actually getting to know your team after the Blinds is my favorite thing, ’cause it’s like, the dream’s there.”
However, she did admit that it’s a bit nerve-wracking to look over at Blake’s old chair and see The Voice‘s newest coach, the Queen of Country herself, Reba McEntire. But how has Reba been handling her first season? Gwen recalled the Blind Auditions with a laugh, “She did great. She didn’t have to do anything. She’d be like, ‘I think you were great. I’d love to have you on my team,’ and then they’d be like, ‘I pick you!'”
So, if you’re a fan of breathtaking performances and country charm, make sure to tune in to The Voice, airing Mondays at 8 p.m. PT and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. PT on NBC. You won’t want to miss a moment, especially with talents like Ruby Leigh taking the stage. Who knows? You might just witness the birth of a new country music star!
