Understanding the Broad Scope of Hamas and Its Declaration of Terror
It might tickle your funny bone to learn that Hamas isn’t just about opposing Israel. In fact, they’ve got a beef with a whole lot more than just one country. So, if you’re a Christian, practice another religion, or even if you’re just into community service with your local Rotary club or Lions, guess what? You’re on their list too.
The Global Ambitions of Hamas
According to Walid Phares, a Middle East expert and author, “Hamas is using Gaza as a shield to gain legitimacy.” However, he warns us, “This is a jihadist movement, and it’s making its presence felt in America, Canada, and Western Europe. Our democratic world has never faced such a level of danger.”
Moreover, the Hamas charter isn’t just about local issues. It’s got its sights set on global domination, with Islam at the helm. This means “Main Street” America isn’t safe from their agenda either.
The Ideological Blueprint of Hamas
The guiding principles of Hamas are laid out in “The Covenant of the Islamic Resistance Movement,” dated August 18, 1988. It’s a doozy of a document that calls for Jihad as the only solution to the Palestinian question. It also states that neither Jews nor Christians will find favor until they follow the ways of Hamas.
Phares, who has penned “Iran, An Imperialistic Republic and U.S. Policy,” explains that Israel is merely an obstacle for Hamas in their quest to influence the international community. “They know our society very well. They are here,” he adds, hinting at the insidious reach of the group.
Unexpected Targets of Hamas‘ Jihad
Article 22 of the Hamas charter throws a curveball by naming some rather wholesome organizations as targets of their Jihad. We’re talking about the Rotary and Lions clubs, and even Freemasonry. These groups, as American as apple pie, are accused by Hamas of sabotaging societies for Zionist interests, which is, of course, a baseless claim.
Phares sheds light on this, saying, “They are part of what the Jihadists consider a national sin.” He warns that Hamas will target these social organizations as part of their broader agenda.
FBI’s Vigilance Against Hamas Threats
Christopher Wray, the FBI Director, recently informed the House Committee on Homeland Security about intensified investigations into Hamas. The goal is to thwart any potential terror attacks on U.S. soil and to cut off financial support to the group.
“We’ve kept our sights on Hamas and have multiple investigations into individuals affiliated with that foreign terrorist organization,” Wray stated. He emphasized the ongoing threat, saying, “We cannot—and do not—discount the possibility that Hamas or another foreign terrorist organization may exploit the current conflict to conduct attacks here, on our own soil.”
Legal Actions Against Hamas Affiliates in the U.S.
The U.S. has seen its fair share of legal battles against Hamas-affiliated entities. The most notable is the 2008 conviction of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development and its leaders for providing material support to Hamas. They were found guilty of funneling at least $12 million to the group, resulting in hefty prison sentences.
These cases highlight the financial networks that support Hamas and the efforts to dismantle them. Current Hamas political leader Abu Marzouk, once linked to the Holy Land Foundation, is now believed to be living in Qatar with a fortune exceeding $3 billion.
The Humanitarian Work of Rotary and Lions Clubs
Despite being targeted by Hamas, both the Rotary and Lions clubs maintain that they are apolitical organizations dedicated to humanitarian work. With over 1.4 million members each, they are involved in various charitable efforts, such as food programs, community rebuilding, disease fighting, and improving water, sanitation, and hygiene.
The Lions club proudly states, “Lions International is a non-political, non-sectarian volunteer service organization whose members are dedicated to serving a world in need.”
Similarly, the Rotary club emphasizes its non-political, non-religious nature, focusing solely on providing humanitarian support everywhere.
It’s a sad reflection on the misguided philosophy of Hamas that they would ever view those committed to helping others as enemies. But, as we’ve seen, their agenda casts a wide net, and it’s not just about religion or politics—it’s about their opposition to the very idea of community and humanitarian aid.
So, there you have it, folks. The next time you’re flipping burgers at a Rotary BBQ or helping the Lions club with a charity auction, remember that in the eyes of Hamas, you’re not just a good Samaritan; you’re part of a much larger battle. But don’t let that stop you from doing good—after all, the world needs more helpers, not haters.
And remember, this isn’t just about staying informed; it’s about understanding the complexities of global issues and the sometimes surprising ways they can affect us all. Keep that in mind, stay safe, and keep spreading the good vibes!
